He was most recently a partner at Spencer Stuart, an international executive search firm, as a member of its Industrial Practice and Technology Practice. Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Ray held several executive positions including President and CEO of VECTRA Technologies, Inc., a publicly traded international engineering services and technology company serving the power industry. He was previously Executive Vice President of CellNet Data Systems, a provider of wireless control technology for electrical utility distribution systems. Prior to this he was the President and CEO of Impell Corporation and a Group President at Combustion Engineering, Inc.

His professional background includes executive management experience in technology, consulting, engineering, construction and manufacturing. His clients have included Fortune 500 international companies, public and municipal power companies, and government agencies such as the Department of Energy and Department of Defense. He has served on public, private, international and non-profit Boards of Directors. His background includes extensive international experience with major clients in Canada, England, France, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea.

Education:
Ray earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (with distinction) from the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University. He also attended the Stanford Executive Program at the Stanford University Business School. He is a registered Professional Engineer in mechanical engineering in California.
